As everybody and their desi grandfathers know, SRK and Salman fought over...well, something completely insignificant about five years ago at Katrina Kaif's birthday party. After behaving like six year-olds, they have finally matured and are now behaving like eleven year-olds. At Baba Siddiqui's iftaar party a few days ago, it seemed that they hugged and made up. Now what's left to be seen is what repercussions this hug will have on the future of Indian cinema, and maybe even that of mank-k-k-k-kind... okay, I've clearly watched too many Bollywood movies.
1. Their forthcoming films will have new plot twists: Robin Hood Pandey in 'Dabangg 3' will have an ally from a neighbouring village who plays good cop and helps him beat up the bad guys. At the same time, SRK's character in 'Chennai Express' will have someone to tour South India with and save the universe using shovels and sickles. Oh wait, that's Deepika. Next movie though, Sallu bhai. Promise.
2. Gossip sites will starve to death: People will no longer be able to get excited at headlines like 'SRK-Salman avoid eye contact at party by dancing back to back for 3 hours' or 'Salman hides in his car till SRK leaves' or 'SRK dances to Dabangg song at award ceremony…HAWWW'. Gossip mongers are going to have to sow the seeds of dissent between two random stars now in order to ensure their survival.
3. The 'just friends' angle will take on a whole new meaning: This is usually used between members of opposite genders in the film fraternity. But SRK and Salman are going to have to coyly avert their eyes and giggle at all future press conferences when journos ask them the current status of their relationship as they shyly reply, "Offo, we're just friends."
4. A 'Karan Arjun' sequel will be announced shortly: The tear-inducing hug between the two superstars was so brother-like that we're sure Rakesh Roshanwill soon cash in on it by announcing that 'Karan Arjun 2' is in the pipeline. The new movie will have another legendary dialogue: 'Mere Karan Arjun aayenge...phir se."
5. Malaika and SRK will team up again: Possibly the best thing that can come out of this patch-up is that Malaika Arora-Khan and SRK will have another awesome song to complete the trilogy after Chhaiya Chhaiya and Kaal Dhamaal. Enough said.
6. SRK can tick one more name off his 'I Need to Appease You' checklist:After making up with Farah Khan, SRK has Sallu back in his team now. Now all he has to do is make a call to the real Karan (Johar) and Arjun (Rampal).
