The Khan troika of Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan has been unmatched by any Kumar or Kapoor so far. Ranbir Kapoor, with his superhit Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has breached the barrier and is now looking forward to go further. But the question is: does he have the chops to take on the Khans?
Buzz is that Ranbir Kapoor has pinned a lot of hopes to his next film Besharam, which is directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap of Dabangg fame. The actor is looking forward to plunge himself into the film’s publicity and promotion, and that’s why he’s been busy filming Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet so that he can take out time to promote Besharam before the film’s release on October 2.
Sources say Ranbir firmly believes that Besharam can set new box office records.
“Ranbir’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has gone past Dabangg 2 and Bodyguard in terms of trade. It’s a clear sign that he has reached the league of the Khans. There is a general sentiment in the industry that if anyone can challenge the superiority of the Khans in the industry, it is Ranbir,” says a source.
Right now, going by the box office figures, Shahrukh Khan sits at the top with hisChennai Express (Rs. 224 crore), followed by Aamir Khan on the second spot with 3 Idiots (202 crore) and Salman Khan on the third with Ek Tha Tiger (198 crore). Ranbir is presently fourth with YJHD (188 crore).
