What a weekend we've got coming up! Punahou Carnival & Superbowl Sunday....it's a weekend where most of us are going to indulge a little more than usual. As we always say...treating yourself in moderation is fine and something that makes life more enjoyable. What are some of our tricks for indulging without over-indulging?
- Portion control. How do you do that? Well, it can be as simple as using smaller plates for all the yummy Superbowl munchies. It's a proven fact that if you use smaller plates, you won't eat as much. Even if you load up a small plate and go back for seconds, you'll end up eating much less than if you had started with a large plate.
- Hydrate. For every alcoholic beverage you consume, drink a full 8 ounces of water in between. This will keep you hydrated and cut down on the amount of alcohol you consume. It will also keep your cravings under control. The more alcohol you consume, the more you eat...it's a proven fact!
- Fiber and Protein. When grazing on Sunday focus on filling your plate with fiber (veggies) and protein (meats). This will keep you feeling fuller longer. Go ahead and help yourself to the chips, but only after you've had some fiber and protein first.
Usually every Friday we go on date night. This is our time to reconnect after the long week and enjoy some good food. We did a quick video of our last date night so you could see what we ate.
